The Kitimat Area team contacted each candidate for Member of Parliament for Skeena Bulkley Valley for the April 28th Canadian Federal Election. We submitted a list of questions to each candidate that highlight key issues in the election and highlighted key parts of each candidates election platform. We are publishing the answers in order of when they were first received. The first is Rod Taylor. The candidate for the Christian Heritage Party.

1. With the federal election just over a month away, how prepared is the Christian Heritage Party to field candidates across Canada, and what are your goals for the number of ridings you aim to contest?

We have been getting ready for some time and we are working now with our candidates— many of them first-timers—to get them n the ballot, to have literature and signs available and some guidelines for presenting our platform. We currently have just over 30 approved candidates with a few more joining us in the past few days. We have some very strong candidates and they’re keen to bring our platform to the voters in their districts.

2. The CHP emphasizes pro-life, pro-family, and pro-freedom policies. Which specific policy proposal do you believe will resonate most with Canadian voters in this election, and why?

Our pro-life policies call for the protection of innocent human life from conception until natural death. All Canadians should be able to stand with us on that plank. The protection of a pregnant woman from coercion by a boyfriend who tries to force her to have an abortion against her will should be supported by every person claiming to be a “feminist.” The protection of preborn girls from sex-selective abortions should also be supported by women. We want to end the recent trend of allowing men and boys in washrooms, changerooms and showers that were built for women and girls. We would end the inclusion of biological males in women’s and girls’ sporting competitions. All Canadians of common sense should agree with us on that. Free speech has been seriously under attack for many years. Those who speak up in defence of life and in support of traditional values have been taken to court and often fired for expressing their opinions. This has to stop. Doctors and nurses who were saving lives during covid have lost licences, hospital privileges and jobs because they spoke the truth which the government didn’t want to hear. Their consciences need to be protected; the CHP proposes legislation to protect the consciences of all medical professionals. That should resonate with all Canadians who value their own right of conscience.

3. Canada’s national debt and cost of living are pressing issues for many. What concrete steps would the CHP take to address deficit spending and reduce the tax burden on working families?

The CHP has long had a policy of mandatory balanced budgets. We would end the annual raises that MPs and the Prime Minister have been giving themselves. Canada currently owes over $1.2 Trillion and we taxpayers are paying $125 Million every day in interest! That has to stop. The CHP would end wasteful spending and begin paying down the debt. Politicians should not be able to buy votes with taxpayers’ money.

4. You’ve often highlighted concerns about the erosion of free speech in Canada. What legislative changes would the CHP propose to protect this right if elected?

We would simply insist on politicians and judges following the Charter of Rights and Freedoms which—theoretically—guarantees freedom of speech. We would eliminate the misuse of the Human Rights Commissions to trample on free speech. Where injustice has been done to individuals exercising their free speech rights, we would make efforts to correct those abuses.

5. How does the CHP plan to approach contentious social issues like abortion, euthanasia, and gender identity policies in the 2025 campaign, and what sets your stance apart from other parties?

The CHP has never been afraid of contentious issues. When it comes to freedom of speech, those are the only ones that matter. If Canadians cannot address controversial topics, then we do not have free speech. If CHP were to form government, we would defund abortion, euthanasia (MAiD) and every form of gender-reassignment surgery or chemical “treatment.” That money would be directed to real healthcare—“hearts and hips.” There are some of the other smaller parties beginning to speak on these issues; we’ve been doing so since 1986. The big parties—including the “Conservatives” have avoided these topics and will continue to do so until they feel public pressure to change. We promote policies protecting human life, traditional marriage, biological gender and conscience rights, NOT because it’s politically popular but because it’s the RIGHT thing to do. Our policies are based on God’s Word (the Bible) and that’s why we know these policies are good for Canada and good for ALL Canadians, whatever their faith beliefs or worldview. The Charter of Rights and Freedoms begins with the words, “Canada is founded on principles that recognise the supremacy of God and the rule of law.” If our politicians and our judges continue to ignore and violate that important part of our Constitution, our nation and our economy will continue to suffer.

6. Given your past criticism of COVID-19 mandates, what reforms would the CHP advocate for in Canada’s healthcare system to balance public health and individual rights?

First of all, it’s not a conflict between public health and individual rights. The mandates imposed on Canadians by federal and provincial “health care” czars were NOT based on science. They were based on lies . . . and Canadian governments allowed Big Pharma to dictate policies that put billions into their pockets without proper testing. These policies were imposed by the WHO and influenced by Americans like Dr. Fauci and Bill Gates, who both gained a lot of wealth by imposing policies that harmed more people than they helped. This space is too small to go into details but government policies killed people, ruined businesses, wrecked our healthcare system, compromised our judicial system and wrongfully imposed the Emergency Act—with all its terrors and financial abuses—on peaceful protestors and freedom-loving grandmas. The CHP would withdraw from the WHO and put trusted and honest medical personnel with demonstrated integrity into Canadian health agencies. We would publish the finding of the National Citizens Inquiry and prosecute government officials who lied to the public.

7. The CHP has historically struggled to secure seats in Parliament. What strategies are you employing this time to broaden your voter base beyond traditional supporters?

Of course, we would like our voter base to grow but we will not compromise on important issues just to get elected. We are doing our best—with limited resources—to educate the public. Voters can learn more about our policies and the rationale behind them by visiting our website, chp.ca It’s true that we have not yet elected our first MP, but when we do, the political landscape in Canada will change. Our biggest challenge is that people who agree with our policies are afraid to vote for us because of the fear of “splitting the vote.” We’d like to encourage people to vote for what they believe in. We can’t control anybody else’s vote. Each of us is responsible for one vote—our own. It’s a sacred trust. If people keep voting for parties that support . . . or tolerate . . . the shedding of innocent blood, we’ll continue to have governments of moral compromise. We all want God’s blessing on our country . . . on our economy, our crops, our cities, our education system, our healthcare system, our justice system. God cannot and will not bless our nation while we tolerate the shedding of innocent blood. We must change that if we want His blessing.

8. Climate change is a key election topic. How does the CHP balance environmental stewardship with its commitment to economic freedom and limited government?

The Bible calls us to responsible stewardship of our planet. We humans are supposed to treat this earth like a garden. We should not pollute or destroy. We should manage our forests, our rivers, our oceans, our soil so that it is as good or better than we found it . . . for the next generations. That being said, CO2 (carbon dioxide) is not pollution; it’s plant food! The false notion that man’s burning of fossil fuels is causing disastrous climate change has had a terrible impact on our economy. The carbon taxes have been a disaster and a major cause of inflation because they have artificially raised the price of EVERYTHING and have done NOTHING to improve the environment. We will defend CO2, a natural beneficial gas and resist every attack on carbon: taxes, cap-and-trade, sequestration and especially the propaganda that has poisoned the minds of so many.
