Suspicious person
The Kitimat RCMP was dispatched to a suspicious person file on March 21st.
It was reported that on March 20th at 11:15 pm a suspicious male was knocking on a front door and window of a Nechako neighbourhood residence. The male then left in a SUV. CCTV footage of the incident was provided to the investigating officer, with an idea of who the male could have been. The officer reviewed the footage and was able to identify the male. The investigating officer spoke to the male who admitted being around the area the previous evening. It was further stated that he was trying to look for his friend but was unsure which house was the correct residence. The male had shared a cab ride earlier and the friend had forgotten an item which he was trying to return. The story matched the scenario on the CCTV footage provided. (2025-959)
Drinking in public
A report regarding two individuals drinking at the entrance to a business located on the 200 block of City Centre at 4:34 pm on March 22nd.
The investigating officers arrived at the dispatched location and located a suspect with liquor at their feet. The suspect was issued a violation ticket for possessing open liquor in public. A second suspect was located visibly intoxicated and unable to care for them self. They were arrested for Causing a Disturbance by being drunk in public and were transported to Kitimat RCMP cells. They were released when sober. (2025-979)
Check stop
At 10:07 pm on March 24th, Kitimat RCMP officers conducted a two-hour check stop near the corner of Gyrfalcon Ave., and N Lahakas Blvd.
The officers were checking for sobriety, drivers licenses, proof of insurance and safety defects. During the check stop, approximately 75 vehicles and drivers were checked. Two violation tickets and one notice and order were issued along with verbal warnings. No impaired drivers were located. (2025-1005)
