Kitimat, BC – March 27, 2025

Each week, a food truck rolls into the downtown mall area of Kitimat, British Columbia, delighting locals with its inventive offerings. Pizza Etc., spearheaded by Sonya Phillips, a former kitchen manager at the Hirsch Creek Golf and Winter Club, has quickly become a go-to spot for food enthusiasts craving something beyond the ordinary.

Sonya Phillips, a seasoned culinary professional, spent time honing her skills at the local golf course’s restaurant, where she managed the kitchen and earned a reputation for her creative dishes and commitment to quality. After leaving her role at Hirsch Creek, Phillips decided to take her talents to the streets, launching Pizza Etc. The food truck, parked prominently in the bustling downtown mall area, offers a rotating menu of artisanal pizzas, hearty sandwiches, and seasonal specials—all crafted with fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

Since its debut, Pizza Etc. has drawn crowds with standout items like the “The Bully,” (13 inch pizza) topped with chicken, bacon, red onions, tangy BBQ sauce and cheddar. Pizza Etc has a catering menu that offers the “Smelter Parfait,” a Whole lotta protein in one dish. Containing perfect layers of cheesy macaroni, beans and beef.

The downtown mall area, a hub for shopping and socializing in Kitimat, has proven to be the perfect stage for Phillips’ venture. It’s a great spot to catch people on their lunch breaks or out for a casual bite.

Locals have embraced Pizza Etc. with enthusiasm. “Sonya’s food is a step above what you’d expect from a food truck,” said a local man who wished to remain anonymous whom this writer talked to, that stopped by for a slice after work. “You can tell she’s got experience—it’s not just pizza; it’s an experience.”

Phillips’ transition from the golf course to the food truck scene reflects a growing trend of culinary professionals seeking more independent, community-focused platforms to showcase their talents. With Kitimat’s dining options growing in recent years, Pizza Etc. fills a niche for fresh, creative eats in a Kitimat.

Pizza Etc. days and hours open are subject to change based on weather and special events. For updates on the menu and location and availability, locals are encouraged to follow the food truck’s social media page at the link below.
